Weblog

Moving.

Unfortunately, I'll be moving the blog over to Blogger now. Just seems easier to work with and update via my cellular talking device. I am now a contributor over at New Kidz on the Blog, too. This just makes it easier.

Check it out, I promise to clean it up and update more. Big things happening this year!

Thanks!

New address.

New Kidz.

R.I.P. Tony Silver

Thank you for literally changing my (and many other's) life with a classic, beautiful film that will always stand the test of time.

Image taken from Mare 139's blog over at 12 oz. My apologies.

About to Get Grumpy Around Here.

Just received a little gift in the mail from the State of New York.

This should be interesting, fingers crossed.

I apologize in advance for anything I might say or do in the 2 weeks after starting this program.

Tao Te Ching.

Years ago, this guy:

Gave me this:

I think we had both just finished 'Art of War', and I had just finished reading 'Code of the Samurai', and suggested it to him. He gave me this in return (the pocket version, which I highly recommend).

I've used and carried this very small collection of wisdom close to my heart ever since. I've had a rule that no matter what is weighing on me at the time or what I'm going through, I'll pick it up and open to a random page. 99.999% of the time, I can make direct connections to what I'm going through and it helps put thing in perspective.

Today was a perfect example, and the reason I will (again) try to carry this with me from now on. I had a great lunch with an amazing person I'm going to be working with a lot in the near future. Shortly after, very sad news that affects him and the projects he has in the works surfaced. Instead of calling him when I heard, (cowardly, I know, but I figured he was busy with people calling with the sad news) I started to email him, opened this tiny book to a random page, and found the perfect passage to quote (at least in my eyes). I can only hope that it helps, not that he needs it.

Anyways, that's my 'book club' recommendation for the month.

R.I.Paradise to all we've lost recently. You're never forgotten.

Feeling down?

Well, watch this link. If that doesn't help, I can't...no one can.

Forget the 'Air'...

...have you seen their new bags?

Stunning. Seamless. Beautiful. Strong.

Having done a little packaging design in my time, these are amazing. Glad that the little things aren't overlooked.

What happened to relaxing?

Somehow, now that I'm unemployed, I seem to be busier than before. New office and painting setup (flicks soon when the rubble clears), work coming in at an alarming rate everyday, and friends and family coming and going (that time of the year?).

My plans of sitting on the couch and playing Call of Duty are kind of out the window for the time being. Can't complain. This little guy can:

Hope 2008 is treating everyone nicely, major updates soon, along with an interview with the good people over at albotas.com.

Jump Back.

When thinking of moving forward, I can't help but look back. This was a flyer for our first art show in NY with me and my old housemates, Timmy Diet and Jon Booker. I took the photo at the doors of La Sagrada Familia, one of my favorite places in Barcelona, back in 2000 or so.

Heywire.

I recently joined the Heywire Guild & Gallery community. Going to be interesting to see where this goes, I really believe something like this was needed for a long while now and I'm glad someone got around to making it happen. They're off to a great start and I'm seeing a lot of familiar faces.

"Heywire Guild & Gallery is an online community for artists to share their work, their ideas and their passion. Members can upload and showcase work, comment on the work of others and collaborate with each other. More than just a gallery, it's a guild for those who create art."
